Important Recertification Changes: On Friday, 09 March 2007 the Professional Certification Board announced changes to the recertification process for all ASIS certifications effective January 1, 2008 (click here to read announcement).  The change implements a new standard of calculating recertification credits, by using the Continuing Professional Education System (CPE).  For more information, please view presentation on the CPE Recertification Credit System or the CPE Implementation Document.  Additional information can be found on the ASIS Recertification Website.

  ARE YOU CERTIFIABLE?

ASIS International administers three certification programs to meet the demand for professional security practitioners.  The three certification programs are:

Certified Protection Professional (CPP): Introduced in 1977, this certification designates individuals who have demonstrated competency in all areas constituting security management.  For more information click here.

Professional Certified Investigator (PCI): Introduced in 2002, holders of the PCI certification have demonstrated education and/ or experience in the fields of case management, evidence collection, and case presentation.  For more information click here.

Physical Security Professional (PSP): Introduced in 2002, the PSP designation is the certification for those who primary responsibility to conduct threat surveys, design integrated security systems that include equipment, procedures and people, or install, operate and maintain those systems.  For more information click here.

Why Certify?: The simple answers is that to remain as competitive as possible today, you must be certified.  The bar has been raised in the security profession and employers, contractors, governments, and even clients are now taking additional steps to ensure that they are hiring or working with the most skilled and knowledgeable individual in the business.
